Disconnect and Reconnect: Why Camping is the Perfect Break from Online Life

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you do? For a lot of us, turning off the alarm leads to a quick scroll through your Facebook feed, or checking your emails to see if you missed anything during the night. The routine of life can be fun and rewarding, but taking some time to disconnect from online and reconnect with family, friends, the outdoors, and a life that doesn’t need constant check-ups and distractions, can be exactly what you need to feel like yourself. The team here at Alpin Haus RV is pretty familiar with both the high-paced, constantly moving life, and the slow, go-with-the-flow getaways. Because of that, we want to share with you why we feel that camping is the perfect opportunity to disconnect and reconnect with yourself, your loved ones, and the outdoors!

On the Surface, It’s a Vacation

Whether it’s a daytrip, a weekend trip, or an extended stay, you’re taking a vacation when you camp. No following the routine of wake up, drive to work, order lunch as a quick pick-me-up, drive home, and do it all again tomorrow. Instead, camping lets you stay in bed a little longer, fire up the grill at lunch time, laugh and relax with your family and friends, and not even think about what the next day will look like. The hiking trails are your morning commute, the view overlooking the lake is your office, and it’s the best day you’ve had this year, every single day.

You’ll Start to Feel Better, and It’s Not by Coincidence

That time you spend sitting next to the fire, and that walk you take near the lake, are both proven to actually make you feel better, and healthier overall. Going outside is a proven way to make both your physical and mental health better! A 2019 survey of almost 20,000 people showed that the longer you spend outdoors, the healthier and happier you’ll feel. How could you feel bad when you’re watching a sunset next to a campfire, music playing, smore in hand!

New Hobbies, New Interests, New You

Some of us here at Alpin Haus have discovered new hobbies and interests while on camping trips, many that we really never thought of trying before! Kayaking is a fan favorite among us, but you can find a bunch of different activities to do that’ll be fun, relaxing, and can provide you with that much needed mental break. Some of our top camping activities are:

  • Kayaking
  • Biking
  • Wood Carving
  • Drawing
  • Bird Watching
  • Searching for Rocks

All of these are hobbies that we’ve found to help us clear our minds, and bring some joy to the camping trip!

Fun, Connection, and Memories

At the end of the day, whether you’re camping by yourself, with your significant other, or a bunch of family and friends, you can find fun, connection, and memories on every camping trip. You can try out some of the new hobbies we talked about earlier, joke around with your family, and take some polaroid pictures for the scrapbook. The options really are endless! What we find is that what it always comes back to, simply, is just having a good time, connecting with yourself and the others around you, and thinking back on the laughs and the other great moments you had during your getaway. Those memories you make live forever, and you can tell the stories, share the laughs, and reminisce on those times for as long as you’d like.

If you’re looking to step away from your everyday life and give the outdoors a try, stop by any of our locations! Whether it’s to look at RVs, or just to get your foot in the door and learn about the camping lifestyle, we’re right here by your side.
